07/08/2015 Watch - Earthquake in Nepal On Saturday, April 25, 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck 48 miles (77 km) northwest of Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, causing avalanches around Mount Everest and several aftershocks. In Kathmandu, conditions are returning to normal. In the worst-affected areas outside Kathmandu, damage is more widespread and severe. Recovery efforts in these areas are ongoing, and access to basic resources, such as food, water, fuel, and communications, could be limited.
07/06/2015 Watch - Chikungunya in the Pacific Islands The Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network (PacNet) has reported local transmission of chikungunya in several islands in the central and south Pacific Ocean. Local transmission means that mosquitoes in the area have been infected with chikungunya and are spreading it to people.
07/02/2015 Alert - Ebola in Liberia CDC is no longer recommending that US residents avoid nonessential travel to Liberia. However, CDC recommends that US residents practice enhanced precautions when traveling to Liberia.
06/29/2015 Watch - MERS in the Republic of Korea On May 20, the Republic of Korea reported its first laboratory-confirmed case of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). All transmission has been linked to health care facilities where MERS patients were treated.

CDC recommends that travelers to these countries protect themselves by avoiding contact with the blood and body fluids of people who are sick, because of the possibility they may be sick with Ebola.
