Good to know

Before you use it

  • Holidays appear in the years they existed: Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 1986, Juneteenth from 2021, and the Monday holidays from 1971.
  • Observed days use today's rule for every year: a Saturday holiday is observed on Friday, a Sunday holiday on Monday.
  • In every format, dates are written as yyyy-MM-dd, and yes/no values as true or false. An empty value means nothing was recorded.

Where it comes in handy

What people build with it

  • Reports and dashboards. Use it as the date table in Power BI, Excel or a data warehouse.
  • Business-day math. Find the third business day of a month or the next working day after a holiday.
  • Fiscal reporting. Group by the federal fiscal year, which starts October 1.
  • Scheduling. Skip weekends and holidays when you set due dates or delivery windows.
