Good to know

Before you use it

  • Ratings are CMS's, from the measurement periods in its July 2026 release. They look back a year or more; they aren't an inspection of the hospital today.
  • An empty rating means CMS didn't publish one, usually because the hospital had too few cases or surveys, or the measure doesn't apply to it. It doesn't mean a poor rating. 3,164 hospitals have an overall rating.
  • MortalityBetter and MortalityWorse count the death-rate measures where the hospital did better or worse than the national rate; the safety and readmission pairs work the same way. The other measures were no different from the nation or had too few cases.
  • DefinitelyRecommendPct is the percent of surveyed patients who would definitely recommend the hospital, and Rated9Or10Pct the percent who rated it 9 or 10 out of 10. Names and addresses are in capitals, as CMS publishes them.
  • This is reference data, not medical advice.
  • In every format, dates are written as yyyy-MM-dd, and yes/no values as true or false. An empty value means nothing was recorded.
