What happens after I buy?

Your key arrives by email once payment goes through. Open a dataset or collection, paste the key into its download section, and choose CSV, JSON, or XML. No code needed.

Can I use the data in something I sell?

Yes. The data can go into apps, websites, reports, client work and products you sell. You can share the files with your own team, students, or a client you're working for. What isn't allowed is passing the datasets on to anyone else: reselling or publishing the files, or offering them as a data service of your own. A few sources ask for credit, like the English dictionary; when one does, its page says so.

What happens when my pass ends?

You’re back to free access: samples, the free datasets, and the free daily limit. Anything you downloaded during your year is yours to keep using, in any project, under the same terms. Buy another year whenever you want complete downloads again.

Do I need to write code?

No. Download CSV for a spreadsheet, or JSON or XML for software that uses them. The API is just another way to get the same data. See the download steps.

Does the data stay current?

A complete download has every record we hold for that dataset today. That isn't a promise of every possible record or the very latest information, so check the description, preview and sources to see what's included. We update the catalog continuously, but a pass doesn't come with a guaranteed update schedule.

How does renewal work?

We email you two weeks before your pass ends. To renew, buy another pass with the same email address, or enter your key at checkout. If you renew early, your new year starts when the current one ends. Your key stays the same, and we never charge you automatically.

Are there download limits?

Every file download counts toward your daily limit. A pass key can download up to 10 category or collection ZIPs a minute. A category ZIP holds up to 64 MB of data; if a category is bigger, download its datasets one at a time.
